Easy Cards for Dad

The Creative License collection from Club Scrap is perfect for making simple Father's Day or "Dad-themed" greeting cards, and that's what I've been up to for today's blog hop.

Previous Stop: Pam
Next Stop: Esther
The Beginning: Club Scrap

This technique was inspired by a set of cards by Teri Zwicker. She trimmed contrasting strips of paper in various widths, adhered them onto an art panel, embossed with texture, and added to a card base. Brilliant!

When I observed how beautifully the Chrome paper in this collection worked with an embossing folder, I knew it was time to steal mimic Teri's great idea.

With an important Dad's Day on the horizon, I used the alphabet featured on the Jumbo UM sheet to make a custom "dad badge."

Here's how to make the cards:

1. Trim four pieces of paper to 4.25x5.5". (Because it's more efficient to make four of these at a time.) Generously cover each panel with adhesive.

2. Trim papers from the Creative License and Hypno collections into randomly-sized strips. (My strips were all about 5.5" long.) Place a strip onto one edge of the panel, and continue to adhere contrasting colors to the entire panel, rotating vertically and horizontally.

3. Repeat for the other panels. Trim excess paper strips from the outside edges of the panels.

4. Insert the prepared panel into an texture embossing folder.

5. Rub ink directly onto the raised surfaces, if desired. Trim each panel to 3-7/8x5-1/8". (Since embossing can slightly change the dimensions of a panel, I waited until this step to trim to the final size.)

6. Prepare a "badge" with a folded ribbon and die cut circle.

7. Adhere badges to the panels. Nest the panels onto a 4x5.25" black panel and a 4.25x5.5" folded card base.

Aren't they sweet? I happen know some great dads who will receive these cards in a few weeks.

Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend!

Your next stop is with Esther. See you there...
