Embossed Ink Resist

Welcome to my stop on Club Scrap's London Calling Blog Hop! Hopefully you've hopped over from Inkstains with Roni.

The hop always signifies the last official task on my monthly "to do" list, and then I typically move on to the next collection. I am a little bit sad about this.

I used the London Calling unmounted stamps to develop three techniques into a few cards.

1. White emboss resist.
2. Postage stamp grid layout.
3. Multiple mattes to make a framable piece.

Here are the simple steps:

1. Ink assorted London Calling unmounted images with White Pigment ink, stamp onto Cinema White Plain, and heat emboss with white or pearl powder. (The smooth, coated white paper from the Cinema collection made a nice foundation for the resist technique.)

2. Apply color to the images with CS Ink Applicators and inks. I used Earth, Topaz, Ocean, Lagoon, Sapphire and Moss inks.

3. For a more intense look, rub the inkpad directly onto the stamped image. Use a paper towel to remove ink from the embossed surface and to blend the colors.

4. Trim the artwork into nine 1" squares, or punch with a 15/16" postage stamp punch. (I've had this punch since the beginning of time. If you don't have one but still want the same look, try a postage edge scissors, which are readily available.)

5. Arrange the nine squares onto a 3.25" square of Cinema White Plain.

6. Experiment with various papers from the collection to determine the size of the card base and nesting panels of varying widths. The addition of the black layer directly beneath the art panel really makes it stand out.

7. The square card base and panel size/colors from largest to smallest are as follows:

5x10" Light Green, folded = 5" Card Base
4-1/8" Blue Plain
4" Green Pattern Plain
3-3/4" Kraft Plain
3-3/8" Cinema Black Plain
3-1/4" Cinema White Plain

Thankfully, I had enough punched squares to make three cards. For the third, I used a completely different color palette with equally beautiful results!

Inks used: Tangerine, Carnation, Fuchsia, Ruby, Mahogany

Now you're off to see something inspiring from Marya at A Notebook Novel. Enjoy!
